Living Hope exists to offer help to people with life-controlling alcohol and/or substance misuse, and support them through related issues such as poor mental health, relationship breakdown and homelessness.
At the moment Living Hope operates from The Lighthouse in Kyle of Lochalsh but outreach and one to one support is a major element of the service offered specifically by Stevie Boyle for the area of Skye and Lochalsh.
The Lighthouse also hosts a number of related groups. There are drop-ins for service users, a recovery group on Wednesday evenings and Sunday worship gatherings open to all every fortnight. Other community-based charities use the building to provide important services to mental health service users, young carers, food bank users, and users of the Housing Association.
Throughout the winter months we host a youth café drop-in for young people with no agenda other than to provide a safe place to hang out and socialise.
We also run Lighthouse Coffee, a community-focused cafe that provides a comfortable, welcoming environment for local residents and visitors to access a warm space, good company, and affordable food. We strive to keep our prices as low as possible. We also have the Pay-It-Forward board, where customers can buy a meal or drink to put on the board for others to enjoy for free. Lighthouse Coffee is currently open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 2 through the winter and warmly welcomes all people.
